Iowa College Goal SundaySM

The Program
College Goal SundaySM is a program in which trained volunteers provide free, on-site assistance to students and families in filing the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is the federally required form for students seeking financial aid for college. Completing the FAFSA is the first and most important step in qualifying for aid.

2012 Event
The 2012 College Goal Sunday events will be held from February 18-26, 2012 at 31 locations throughout the state.

Past Events
The program came to Iowa in February 2009 through funding from Lumina Foundation for Education and through the collaborative effort of state partners. The inaugural event took place in five Iowa cities. During Iowa College Goal Sunday in February 2010, more than 400 FAFSAs were completed and in February 2011, more than 600 FAFSAs were completed, helping students find the funding they need to attend college.

National College Goal SundaySM

The College Goal SundaySM program was created by the Indiana Student Financial Aid Association with funding from Lilly Endowment, Inc., and with supplemental support from Lumina Foundation for Education. The program's main focus is helping low-income, first-generation families and is currently in place in 39 states and the District of Columbia and is managed by the YMCA of the USA.
